Earthing: why it is so effective in reducing inflammation
“Earthing” means staying connected to the earth. And since the earth is negatively charged, that is, it is rich in free electrons, it is clear how earthing is closely linked to the antioxidant system.
Earthing helps us rebalance the body when exposed to non-native electromagnetic fields, such as Wi-Fi.
Indeed, these electromagnetic fields create induced currents, which are then discharged to the earth when we are in contact with it. By doing so, we mitigate their effects compared to an isolated system that is formed, for example, when we wear shoes.
Earthing and antioxidant system
The balance between ROS and antioxidants is critical for the body’s homeostasis. Oxidants are functional in the internal dynamics of health/disease regulation. However, they are harmful to tissues if out of control, causing what we know as “oxidative stress.” Our body is characterized by a tensegrity structure, a real circuitry that forms a sophisticated neuro-biomechanical balance system, and is used to transport the electrons we absorb from the earth to the sites of inflammation.
Where there is inflammation, excess ROS are buffered by electrons that act as antioxidants.
The electrons that come from the earth through Earthing arrive via this sophisticated circuit and bypass “the wall of inflammation”.
The latter acts as a shield and prevents the antioxidants taken in through food from getting to where they are needed, which is right at the site of inflammation. Earthing is proven to be effective in reducing inflammation. It is no coincidence that the very area of highest conductivity in the human body is the sole of the foot.
Electrons and the right balance
Harnessing the earth’s electrons as the main source of antioxidants allows for the right balance.
Why?
Simple, because the body absorbs electrons only when they are needed. On the other hand, when we take antioxidants orally, through diet or supplementation, there is no targeted control over metabolism and the immune system, and we thus risk disabling physiological mechanisms involving oxidants. So here is where Earthing ensures a perfect balance and gives us the right balance. Being barefoot is our natural condition as human beings.
After all, the electrical connection with the earth is part of the origin of life. The earth’s magnetic field is harnessed by all life forms.
So why deprive yourself of it?
Try walking barefoot when you can: while taking a walk in the woods, by the sea, or in your backyard.
